Bowtech Debuts Nuclear Surveyor-100 Camera
Bowtech Products expanded its AquaVision range of products, with the release of the Surveyor-100 color zoom camera. The camera is suited to nuclear applications, although with its 100 m rating it also makes for a shallow water viewing solution. In an irradiated environment the Surveyor100 with its 36:1 optical zoom allows the camera to be located further away from the subject being viewed, reducing the effects of radiation and increasing camera life.

OSIL Touts MiniBAT Efficiencies
UI Completes Large Umbilicals
Umbilicals International (UI) delivered the second of two large control umbilicals for International Underwater Sampling (IUS). UI delivered the first in 2008 for use onboard MV The Explorer, a DP2 vessel capable of sampling areas of 5 sq. m. holes at water depths up to 250m. Both were designed and made to provide IUS with dynamic umbilicals suitable for multiple deployments. Each umbilical boasts overall diameters of 248mm and a minimum breaking load of 40,450 lbf.

OSIL (Ocean Scientific International Limited) are continuing to tout the time and money saving solutions via MiniBAT, a remote controlled tow body. MiniBAT has the capability to carry a variety of payloads from custom supplied CTD, SV, Chlorophyll, Turbidity, and Dissolved Oxygen packages right through to clients own R&D sensors. The MiniBAT is able to take payloads of up to 20Kg, and work at speeds of up to 10 knots and depths of 60m. Through the unique MiniBAT control software the tow body can be set to undulate over a desired depth range, and maintain a constant depth, and can be programmed to follow the seabed with MiniBAT automatically altering its depth.

underwater electrical wet-mate connector range. Adapted from the standard diver-mated screwed coupling version, the Sea-Mate ROV connector was developed for an oceanographic subsea monitoring system which had to be modular to allow for easy installation and reconfiguration. The new connector's key requirements were that it had to be low cost with wet-mate ability to a depth of 13,500 psi (9,250m) without using costly fluid filled pressure compensated connector options. The Sea-Mate ROV is ideally suited for systems that do not require high numbers of mate and de-mate cycles and those that allow the socket portion of the connector to be recovered for maintenance every 5 to 10 mate and breaks (it is recommended a full sealing cap is utilized during this process to protect the pins from damage).
