avoid increased anthropogenic input that may greatly impact ecosystems. Turner Designs recently developed and released a new Optical Brightener Module for use with its Trilogy Laboratory Fluorometer that can be used to detect the presence or absence of Optical Brighteners in water systems. Testing was performed to determine linearity, range, and detection limits. Three different detergents were compared to show how concentrations of brighteners can vary among different or similar detergents. Results showed lower detection limits between 0.1 ppm and 0.6 ppm with maximum linear ranges respectively to 9,000 ppm and 15,000 ppm. The Optical Brightener
Module easily snaps in and can be purchased with a new Trilogy or as an addition to a previously purchased Trilogy. Turner Designs also offers Optical Brightener kits for their 10AU Field Fluorometer, Cyclops-7 & C3 Submersible Fluorometers, C6 Multi-Sensor Platform, and Aquafluor Handheld Fluorometer.

New Burton Underwater Ethernet Assemblies
Cooper Interconnect released its new Underwater Ethernet cable assemblies that provide both ethernet and power capability in one assembly. Assemblies are rated up to 10,000 PSI with 1 Gb/s high-speed performance,
and power up to 600 volts. Custom cables have been designed and built from the ground up for the subsea environment. Even at full ocean depth you will see very little change in performance. Cooper Interconnect's assemblies help reduce costs and improve efficiency by reducing the number of cables and connectors needed for ethernet and power capabilities. They feature the proven Burton 5500 Series connector, mated with robust cables for the toughest applications, such as ROV operations, offshore exploration and drilling; anywhere speed and power are needed.

SeaTrepid, Sound Metrics Team for Project
SeaTrepid Louisiana has integrated Sound Metric's new pan and tilt mechanism into its Outland 1000 small observation class ROV. With this new product, jointly developed between Sound Metrics and SeaTrepid, SeaTrepid will have the ability to support its customer base with 2D/3D acoustic lens technology integrated into a small ROV package, allowing for internal structure imaging in extremely hazardous situations. "SeaTrepid is extremely pleased with this new technology." said Bob Christ, SeaTrepid's Principal and founder. "Since the storms of 2005 followed again with the storms of 2008 in the Gulf of Mexico, this has been a desperately needed tool for assessing the damage to downed and severely damaged oilfield infrastructure in the storm-ravaged Gulf."
