New RESON Rep, Support in ASEAN region
Reson appointed Sea and Land Te c h n o l o g i e s PL, as its exclusive representative for the ASEAN region, effective January 1, 2009. Sea and Land Technologies PL (SALT) will be responsible for sales, marketing as well as technical support and repairs of SeaBat multibeam sonar systems and NaviSound singlebeam echosounders. Based in Singapore, SALT specializes in the sales, system integration, engineering and support of high tech electronic instrumentation and mechanical equipment for data acquisition and processing equipment. These solutions are used for various applications within environmental surveys, oceanography, hydrographic surveys, Marine seismic surveys, coastal monitoring studies as well as commercial & military diving.

FarSounder Adds Network Capability
By including a dedicated processing server and 'Thin Client' software, the FS-3 range of sonars can now be connected to the bridge network. Used on commercial and private ships for obstacle avoidance and shallow water navigation, FarSounder FS-3 sonars are designed to generate a complete 3D image of the sea floor and inwater objects at navigationally significant ranges with a single ping.
Two East Africa Contracts for Fugro
Two metocean contracts off the coast of East Africa, both with significance for the oil and gas industry have been awarded to Fugro. The first contract involves a one-year current measurement project with moorings in up to 1,700m water-depth off the Tanzania coast for Ophir Energy, the oil and gas exploration and production company established in 2004 with a focus upon Africa. The second contract is a joint industry metocean study of the Tanzania and Mozambique coast (TAMOMS) for StatoilHydro, Dominion Tanzania Ltd, Petrobras, Petronas and Anadarko. This contract, which is also for a year, is for a current and wave study involving six current and two wave and metrological moorings in water depths ranging from 1,100 3,000m.
MSV Ocean Intervention, New Contract
Oceaneering International secured a one-year term contract with estimated revenue in the range of $25m to $30m for use of the MSV Ocean Intervention and other related services, commencing early February 2009. The contract contains a customer option for a one-year extension. The customer has contracted Oceaneering to conduct inspection, repair, and maintenance (IRM) of deepwater subsea facilities in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM). Examples of this work include changing out pods and chokes, installing flowline jumpers and control umbilical flying leads, remediating hydrates, and supporting diving operations on deepwater floating facilities. MTS Scholarship Program Opens
Student interested in pursuing a career in marine engineering or science can now apply for scholarships from the Marine Technology Society (MTS) for the 2009/2010 academic year. The scholarships are targeted to students with an interest in marine instrumentation, technology, engineering and related subjects.
