BlueView Technologies Inc. received orders for 15 units of its new, deepwater DP900-90 within one month of the product launch. The DP900-90 sonar system is a 4000m rated, 90-degree version of BlueView's P900 sonar. The BlueView DP900-90's will be delivered to three customers operating in the Gulf of Mexico and will typically be integrated onto work class ROVs to assist with navigation and operations in zero visibility conditions.

Marport, Rolls-Royce Enter Agreement
Marport signed a Product Development Agreement (PDA) with the marine division of Rolls-Royce. The PDA resulted from a Memorandum of Understanding that both companies formalized in late 2007. The Jointing Automated Documentation Environment (JADE) is reported to be the first software of its kind to be developed for the submarine cable industry. Sripps Oceanography Building Honors Spiess
UC San Diego Chancellor Marye Anne Fox along with Scripps Institution of Oceanography Director Tony Haymet rededicated the existing Scripps Nierenberg Hall Annex (NTV) building as Spiess Hall. The naming of the building recognizes the exceptional career and life of late, legendary Scripps oceanographer Fred Noel Spiess. The building rededication was scheduled to take place outside Nierenberg Hall/Keck Center on the Scripps Oceanography campus at a ceremony on January 23, 2009.
