Baker Hughes Deploys Real-Time Data Gathering
Kongsberg Intellifield entered into a nonexclusive long-term contract with Baker Hughes to provide unrestricted use of the SiteCom, Discovery Wells and Real-Time Intelligence software modules from Kongsberg Intellifield. Baker Hughes intends to implement these scalable software solutions to improve the response time for web-based delivery of advanced real-time visualization and analyses, regardless of the data density acquired. The contract is significant because of the global scale of the deployment. SiteCom is a real-time data management platform that is built upon Web 2.0 technologies and will allow Baker Hughes to create a globally integrated and secure environment for gathering, distributing, and managing data associated with the drilling, formation evaluation, completion and production processes.
Aker Solutions Ramps up Australian Subsea Operation
Aker Solutions is opening up a new operations base in Perth, Australia, positioning the company for the expected subsea boom in the fast growing Asia-Pacific region. The new operations base is purpose built for undertaking testing and service of subsea control modules and trees. The facility also contains an engineering team, which is located at the same site. The facility will function as the Australian head office for Aker Solutions' subsea business area. Aker Solutions has been present in Perth for 10 years, but the opening of the new facility represents a step-change in market presence and provides a long-term commitment to the Australian oil and gas industry.
Technip Wins N. Sea Deal
Technip was awarded by Oilexco North Sea Ltd. a frame agreement for subsea services in the United Kingdom North Sea. Under the terms of this contract, Technip will provide these services for the next three years. The contract includes an option for an additional period. Technip's operating center in Aberdeen, Scotland, and Genesis Engineering Consultancy, the Group's consultancy and engineering company, will execute these services, which could include: conceptual engineering, project management, procurement, construction, installation, provision of diving support, trenching(1) support and umbilical(2) installation vessels, inspection, repair and maintenance. This is the first time Oilexco has implemented a subsea services frame agreement. This will guarantee availability of assets for Oilexco when required, enabling fast track project delivery.
