U.S. Navy Sub Rescue System Certified
OceanWorks announced that the U.S. Navy has completed certification of its new sub rescue system for manned operations under its Deep Submergence Systems Program (DSSP). Manned certification marks the successful completion of OceanWorks' role as Designer and System Integrator for the SRS-RCS (Submarine Rescue System, Rescue Capable System), and is the culmination of a seven year development program that has extended the boundaries of submarine rescue technology to new limits.

Contract is to deliver an integrated Combat System Infrastructure, a new passive sonar system and an upgraded tactical simulator for Norway's six ULA Class submarines. QinetiQ will provide its DeRSCI open architecture software infrastructure and sonar processing applications together with new data acquisition hardware that are designed to bring together the processing system with the existing submarine sonar arrays. The overall system will be built using COTS based hardware integrated with QinetiQ's advanced sonar processing expertise and combined with Kongsberg's sonar processing and combat management system capabilities.
Marport Wins Navy Contract
Marport Canada Inc. was awarded by the Government of Canada a contract with an approximate value of $1.4 million to upgrade the depth sounders on the Halifax class frigates. Marport's sounder upgrade will replace the existing AN/SQN 501 sounding equipment with an openarchitecture, software defined solution designed for submarines and surface ships.
