Triton Debuts New Line at OI
Triton Imaging, at Oceanology International 2008 demonstrated its new Triton Perspective line of software products. This new software employs state-of-art technology, designed to deliver performance, ease-ofuse, versatility and quality. New Perspective-based products include: Triton MosaicOne -- sidescan and backscatter mosaicing package; Triton PerspectiveMap -- map-based data fusion engine; Triton HarborSuitePD -- underwater port security system; Triton SeaClass -- sidescan image segmentation; Triton PipeTrack -- pipeline tracking and free-span detection; and an emergent collection of tools for mine-countermeasures, hydrography, habitat mapping, marine archaeology, and the commercial survey market. For underwater port security, the Triton HarborSuitePD offers a collection of tools that provide protection from IEDs and other dangerous objects placed on the seabed within a port. The system integrates seabed images collected during port survey operations and makes them available to port police dive units. Bathymetric, sidescan, and other underwater image data collected by the port survey group with Triton HarborSuite or other survey system can be displayed on laptops running the Triton HarborSuitePD software. Police units access baseline data and compare with recently-collected imagery to confirm the seabed within any berth or area is clear.

BlueView's DF900-2250
BlueView Technologies, a provider of miniature multibeam imaging sonar, introduced a new dual frequency version of its acoustic Underwater Vision systems. The DF900-2250 sonar system combines the power of BlueView's medium range P900 navigation sonar with the identification capabilities of its higher frequency 2.25 MHz sonar, in one compact package. With the ability to switch between medium and ultra-high resolution sonar heads, the DF900-2250 is designed to provide the capabilities required to perform complex tasks in zero visibility conditions. While the imaging capabilities alone make the DF900-2250 an essential tool, it is the small size that puts it in a class of its own. BlueView's revolutionary technology provides sonar capabilities that are available for the first time in compact, low power systems that can be mounted adjacent to an ROV's main camera system. This configuration provides oneto-one correlation between the video and sonar data that increases operator reaction time during low visibility operations. The specifications for this system were driven both by the Navy's need for better ship hull inspection tools, and the Oil and Gas industry's desire to operate ROVs in zero visibility conditions. To help improve coverage and identification rates for both these industries, the vertical field of view on the 2.25 MHz head has increased from BlueView's standard 20 degrees to an impressive 40 degrees. This increase allows the user to see a larger section of the work environment at a time. Moreover, the DF series is compatible with other BlueView commercial sonar that makes integration and operation nearly seamless for existing customers.
