er the Roger Tory Peterson Memorial Lecture on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 3 p.m. in the Harvard University Science Center. The Harvard Museum of Natural History inaugurated the Roger Tory Peterson Memorial Lecture in 1997 to keep alive the memory of the pioneering naturalist and author of the legendary Peterson Field Guide to Birds. The annual event celebrates and perpetuates Peterson's tireless efforts to conserve the planet's biological diversity. Past recipients of the medal have included E.O. Wilson, Jared M. Diamond, Paul R. Ehrlich, Bruce Babbitt, Richard Leakey, Peter Matthiessen, David Attenborough, Roger Bateman, David Suzuki and Jane Goodall. Jackson's current research includes the longterm ecological effects of overfishing on coastal ecosystems and the ecological and evolutionary consequences of the formation of the Isthmus of Panama, which divided the Pacific and Atlantic oceans about three million years ago.
Hallin Continues to Grow
Hallin Marine opened an office in Perth and won its first Australian contract. Hallin Marine Australia Pty Ltd. has been established as a whollyowned subsidiary and registered in Australia to offer marine and subsea services in Australia. The office is located in St Georges Terrace, Perth, with Australian strategic partners Land Marine and Technology Systems Pty Ltd (LMTS), who are an established provider of offshore and subsea engineering solutions in the country. Hallin Marine Australia won a $4.6m contract for the provision of the subsea operations vessel the Seacor Penrith and onboard marine management to support seabed coring activities off the Bass Strait, Australia. Hallin was awarded the contract by the Australian based specialist drilling company Benthic Geotech. Hallin Marine signed a $40m contract to provide a vessel and saturation diving system. The contract is Hallin's largest to date and runs for the next two years with a subsidiary of the Singapore quoted Swiber Holdings Ltd (Swiber). The wholly-owned Swiber subsidiary, Kreuz Offshore Marine Pte (Kreuz). Ltd, will take the Hallin operated Sanko Angel, fitted with one of the Company's saturation diving systems, on a fixed and firm charter for two years. The contract, which starts immediately, will initially operate on projects offshore of Indonesia and Malaysia. Hallin Marine also strengthened its management team by appointing Paul Bundy as its Chief Operating Officer, reporting to the board. John Giddens will retain overall responsibility for the group's business as Chief Executive and Giddens will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the business. Paul, 50, has more than 30 years experience within the marine and offshore industries. Most recently he has held senior positions within the Swire Pacific Offshore group of companies, including regional General Manager in Middle East and West Africa.
ETS Invests in Sonardyne
Equipment and Technical Services (ETS) Inc. based in Houston, has made a commitment to supporting its customers' deep water operations with the purchase of Sonardyne Wideband Compatt 5 transponders. As specialists in subsea equipment management and rental, ETS will now have the capability to supply operators in the Gulf of Mexico with high accuracy Long Base Line (LBL) positioning equipment for construction survey applications in depths to 5,000 m.

Imenco's ROV CTC Marine Projects won a sub- Operated Shackle
Deep Ocean ASA ordered 16 ROV Shackles from Imenco. The purchase is done on behalf of StatoilHydro who has, for some time, tested out the new Imenco ROV shackle. The new ROV-operated half-automatic shackle is produced from 12.5T to 55T.

marine Telecoms contract by General Offshore Ltd. for Post Lay Inspection and Burial work in the APAC region. The 40-day project uses CTC's CMROV three cable maintenance ROV and commences in March 2008. CTC's Telecoms General Manager, Paul Woodward commented, "This contract will further consolidate CTC's established position in the submarine Telecoms market."
