KAUST Extends Again
KAUST recently completed the signing of two agreements to partner with leading scientific research institutions within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia -- King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and King Abdullah City for Science and Technology (KACST). The agreements mark KAUST's first collaboration with in-Kingdom organizations and further advance KAUST's mission of supporting research and academic development of benefit to Saudi Arabia, the region, and the world.
AXYS to Expand Buoy System
AXYS Technologies Inc (AXYS) delivered another 'Smart' buoy to NOAA for deployment in the Chesapeake Bay. This expands NOAA's Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy System (CBIBS) network to four operational buoys. CBIBS is operated by the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office in Annapolis, MD. The new AXYS WatchKeeper buoy provides the buoy platform. A TRIAXYS Directional Wave sensor, a Wetlabs/SeaBird water quality sensor, a Nortek Current Profiler and other instrumentation including wind, air temperature and pressure sensors will eventually be integrated into the platform. Royal Navy Contract for OSIL's Service Center
OSIL (Ocean Scientific International Ltd.) won a contract from the Royal Navy for the service, repair and calibration of their oceanographic equipment including CTDs, Salinometers, sound velocity probes, thermometers and current meters. Under this contract, OSIL expects several hundred instruments from a range of manufacturers to pass through their service center. OSIL will also provide formal in-field training for Royal Navy personnel in the operation and maintenance of the instruments.
