IXSEA Delivers 1000th OCTANS SeeByte Ltd. Management Changes
Jim Mann, Global ROV Manager, Fugro, accepts delivery of 1000th OCTANS from Wilbert De Groot, Managing Director, IXSEA Pte Ltd. Fugro Singapore took delivery of OCTANS Serial Number 1000, part of an order of eight OCTANS for their FCV 3000 Work Class ROV Systems, in November 2007. The FCV 3000 is a 150 hp Deep Water Work Class ROV. Designed and built in-house by Fugro, it boasts state of the art positioning, construction support, inspection and survey technologies. It is capable of undertaking a range of complex underwater intervention and support tasks at water depths up to 3,000 msw below sea level. "It's a matter of selecting the best sensors on the market and Fugro is very satisfied with the ease of use and performance of OCTANS," said Jim Mann, Fugro's Global ROV Manager. "Fugro will be completing the eighth FCV 3000 shortly and the company plans to produce eight more FCV Systems in 2008."

SeeByte Ltd. a software product company based in Edinburgh announced the promotions of Dr. Ioseba Tena to Sales and Dr. Tena Marketing Manager, Matt Fitchett to Support Manager and Daniel Serrano to Development Manager (SeeTrack Offshore), effective Serano December 2007. Ioseba Tena joined SeeByte Ltd as Development Manager in 2001 and took on the role of Product Manager (SeeTrack Fitchett Offshore) in March 2006 and became responsible for SeeByte's Offshore product. In his new role as Sales and Marketing Manager, he will oversee the development and implementation of the company's marketing and sales strategy. Matt Fitchett started at SeeByte Ltd. in 2001 as a Development Engineer involved in the development and project management of the SeeTrack Military product. As Senior Development Engineer in 2004, Matt was responsible for the development of the SeeTrack.
MTS/IEEE Conference to "Voyage Toward the Future"
Topics as wide ranging as Arctic engineering, marine recreation and submarine cable networks are among
areas of interest that will draw scientists from around the world to the OCEANS'08 MTS/IEEE KOBETECHNO-OCEAN '08 Conference (OTO'08), to be held April 8-11, 2008, in the Kobe International Exhibition Hall, Kobe, Japan. The theme of "Voyage Toward the Future" was chosen to encourage participants to take up the challenges presented at the last conference, in 2004, according to the conference's Executive Committee Chair Dr. Ken Takagi, associate professor, Osaka University. The conference's core topics are underwater acoustics; sonar and image processing; ocean observing technology; remote sensing; ocean data visualization; modeling and information management; oceanography; meteorology; optics; marine law and education; offshore structures; and ocean vehicles and floating structures. Along with the technical sessions and exhibition area, there will be tutorials, a student poster session and a gala reception at the Kobe KachoEn (Kobe Bird and Flower Garden). Technical tours will include visits to the Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution, the Large Synchrotron Radiation Facility and the deep-sea scientific drilling vessel Chikyu. The conference is sponsored by the Japan Section of the Marine Technology Society and the Japan Chapter of the Ocean Engineering Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
