Saab Seaeye Appoints New MD
Saab Seaeye appointed Dave Grant as Managing Director. Previously MD of Hydrovision, Aberdeen UK, and Regional Manager with SMD, Newcastle UK, he brings over 20 years of experience in the design and sales of underwater equipment. A graduate of Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Grant gained a BSc Hons in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and an MSc in Electronic Design from Herriot Watt University in Edinburgh. Saab Seaeye was formed in May 2007 following the acquisition of Seaeye Marine by Saab Underwater Systems. Annual sales of the company are approximately $32m.

Jean Schwartz has been appointed Managing Director of Ixsea. Ixsea is responsible for sales and services of Ixsea's systems and solutions in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The office is located near Boston, Mass., and supports a growing business in commercial and military markets. O c e a n Wo r k s International, Inc. appointed Ernst Fihn as General Manager of its Houston facility. Fihn will lead the company's Fihn expanding U.S. operations which are focused on the design, fabrication and servicing of subsea tooling and field development hardware. Fihn Jacobson comes to the company with over 20 years experience in the subsea industry, including recent experience on the BP Atlantis Project working on production and IWOCS control systems for Technip USA. He also served in various engineering and project management positions at Perry Slingsby Systems where he worked on ROV, cable burial and maintenance, and subsea plow systems. In addition, working for Tetra Tech Inc., Fihn served as Program Director for the Port of Miami's infrastructure redevelopment program.

Kongsberg Maritime AS, (wholly owned by Kongsberg Gruppen ASA) has, through its subsidiary Simrad North America Inc., Washington USA, entered into an agreement to acquire the assets and business of Hydroid LLC (Hydroid) for $80m on a debt-free basis. The purchase price may increase, depending on Hydroid's performance in 2008 and 2009.
