OTE: A Success
The inaugural edition of the Ocean Tech Expo (OTE) `07, held in Providence, Rhode Island, September 5-7, 2007, was widely hailed as a success by those exhibiting and attending. OTE combined an exhibition, classroom training sessions, in-water demonstrations and presentations from leaders in industry and government -- via the Industry Outlook Sessions. OTE attracted a number of industry and political leaders during its three day run in Providence, including Dr. Robert Ballard of URI; Zdenka Willis, director, NOAA IOOS office; Dr. F. Mary Williams, director general, Institute of Ocean Technology of the National Research Council of Canada; and James Pollock, homeland security project manager, NUWC. The Marine Technology Reporter Exhibitor Reception was honored with the presence of Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri, who spoke on the sidelines to MTR regarding Rhode Island's strong support for the subsea technology industry and renewable energy projects. Following are several indelible inmages from the inaugural OTE.
