Imagenex Line Upgraded
bathymetry, magnetometer and singlebeam data along with associated navigation and attitude meta-data, providing fail-safe logging while offering real-time processing, mosaicking, and data interactivity. Features include: Automatic Targeting with database storage, Survey Management and Database Tools, SmartSonar© for automated tuning of sensor and display, Seabed Classification Tool, Chart loading capabilities, OICNap for navigation and attitude editing, ROVer's Eye for 3D mapping visualization, and PipeTrack for pipeline tracking and free-span detection. Recent additions include support for Google Earth, GeoZUI and NASA's World Wind.
product focus
New additions to the Imagenex line of cost-effective multibeam sonars have recently hit the market. The 837A Imaging Delta T has a pivoting transducer featuring flexible mounting arrangements for ROV navigation. The 837A Profiling Delta T is also suited for ROV applications, e.g. pipeline inspections. Both are 3000 m depth rated and available in aluminum or stainless steel. For AUV applications and pipeline trenching, the new 837B Delta T was introduced and is available in PVC, aluminum, or stainless steel. All of the Imagenex Delta T's feature Ethernet communications and work on fiber optics or with Ethernet extenders for long copper wires.
pling and excavation of these deposits. TOPAS Sub-bottom Profilers have enabled the operator companies to achieve improved data quality and more efficient operation. Currently, two companies operating in Namibia are using TOPAS PS 40 parametric SBPs.
EdgeTech Enhances Side Scan Sonar
Kongsberg
EdgeTech recently developed a side scan sonar system which is able to achieve resolution of 0.5m at 250 meters range. The EdgeTech 4500DF Dynamically Focused System utilizes long arrays comprised of multiple, individually accessible elements which changes the effective shape of the array during the receive cycle. This provides an along track beam width substantially less than the physical array length. The full array length can then be exploited at long ranges to provide extremely small beam angles for superior long-range resolution. The 4500-DF Dynamically Focused System comes with either 230 or 540 kHz frequencies and is available for AUV, ROV and towed platforms. The 4500-DF is currently installed on a Kongsberg

Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace has recently commissioned a TOPAS PS 40 Parametric Sub-bottom Profiler system to be used on the continental shelf of Namibia for exploration of the alluvial diamond deposits. Diamonds are normally located in small sediment patches close to the bedrock. High spatial resolution and accuracy in sub-bottom mapping is critical for efficient sam-
