INDUSTRIAL CONSULTING SERVICES, INC.
· By reducing high vibrations 50% -machine life doubles · Reduce destructive energy and crew stress goes down · Potentials for catastrophic failures of machines and structures are manageable · No unscheduled or unexpected downtime is possible · Future design changes for vessels and equipment can eliminate recurring issues and costly rework · Time-based maintenance that creates problems
MAINTENANCE & CONSULTING SERVICES
To receive maximum life out of your machinery, as well as highly consistent results off your production line, a regular maintenance schedule is a key to success. Left without a regular schedule to monitor vibration and machinery performance, consider the risks: · Deterioration of radial and thrust bearings · Misalignment between driver and driven equipment · Reduction of gear wear · Deterioration of flexible couplings · Mechanical looseness · Bent shafts · Imbalance and electrical problems · Catastrophic failure with secondary damage In addition to putting the machinery at risk, consider the detrimental affects on the business:
DETECTION & PREVENTION
The accuracy and reliability of your machinery are critical to long term success. At Boland Industrial Consulting Services, Inc. (BICS), we are focused on making sure your machinery is running at peak efficiency. This is done primarily through properly defining problems with various technologies. We can draw extremely accurate conclusions about machine availability by evaluating the following:
· Vibration trends and analysis · Alignment verification and correction · Accuracy of dynamic balance · Correctness of lubrication and filtration · Excessive temperatures from electrical resistance and friction
LASER ALIGNMENT & DYNAMIC BALANCING
Machinery alignment is one of the primary causes of shortened life cycles and challenge the protection provided by lubricants. BICS offers laser alignment of direct coupled rotating equipment and parallel equipment. These include all types of equipment, foundations and even extreme precision machine tools. BICS usually sets tolerance to exceed manufacturers' requirements. Machine performance may exceed the original manufacturer's commitments for power and efficiency. Benefits include reduction in machine noise, stress and vibration as well as the improvement of machine speeds, product quality, reliability and production. Dynamic balancing may be necessary periodically for machines subject to build-up or damage to rotating assemblies. This is performed on location, with little downtime in the production process. It is crucial to maintain an accurate in-place balance on running machines so that non-running machines are not destroyed by neighboring imbalance forces.
· Unscheduled maintenance and repairs performed on overtime · Inconvenience of interrupted service to customers · Failure of instruments and controls due to machinery-generated vibration · Self-destruction of machinery without any apparent warning · Safety problems associated with unforeseen machinery failures
We can apply any one or a combination of techniques and technology to detect and eliminate any costly anomalies that are affecting your machines as well as profit. Assimilation and integration of technical data and vast machinery experience provide precise answers to our clients most elusive problems.
MECHANICAL PROBLEM SOLVING
Anyone who has had mechanical failure of their machinery knows how costly it can be. That's why so many companies with sensitive machinery come to BICS. It's an investment that pays in so many different ways, for years to come. And when catastrophic or repeated failures do occur, it can often set off a "blame game" between the operators, the manufacturers and the suppliers, each with a different story. This is when we are often called in as an unbiased consultant. We have no agenda other than to isolate the problem and make both short and long term recommendations to solve the problems... and to keep them from happening again. These can range from operator orientation, machinery maintenance, replacement lubricants and filtration as well as improvement or more direct modifications to structure, dynamic balancing and laser alignment.
VIBRATION ANALYSIS
Any machinery with moving parts is going to produce vibrations at some frequencies. Many times, especially on new equipment, these vibrations might not be detectable to human hearing or touch. That is why ultra-sensitive vibration detection equipment cannot only detect the slightest vibrations, but can also localize the source of any vibration that is out of the ordinary. The ordinary noise and vibration can be minimized. Lower amplitudes improve machine health and life. Our vibration and detection analysis services are often used as a periodic prescription for problems or to supplement regular maintenance activities.
