The successful candidate will: Design heavy industrial and marine equipment. Prepare design calculations on mechanical lifting equipment and structural steelwork. Direct and monitor detailed drafting work. Assist in preparing proposals. Provide technical assistance to purchasing department. Prepare technical specifications and other engineering documents. Position requirements include: BASIC: Bachelor's Degree in Structural, Mechanical, Civil or Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture required. A minimum of five years experience with emphasis on industrial design, marine structural design or structural analysis required. Qualified applicants must be able to life an average of 60 lbs. PREFERRED: Preferred experience includes structural design / analysis and/or large machine / crane / lifting systems design and/or strength / fatigue analysis. Experience with codes such as AWS D1.1 (Welding) and AISC ASD (Allowable Stress Design) and familiarity with codes regarding fasteners, materials, and profiles, such as ANSI, ASTM, or ISO standards. Technical competence. Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of co-workers, vendors, customers. Ability to travel on an occasional basis worldwide and work effectively in a shipyard or marine repair facility. Must possess initiative and self-starting qualities.
