Shipboard Bridge Resource Management
This new, peer-reviewed textbook describes all Bride Resource Management (BRM) principles recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard and the IMO. Through his command and teaching experience, and the use of case studies, author Michael R. Adams explains the integration of traditional seamanship and modern ship navigational resources and demonstrates the practice and practical utility of BRM. The author, Michael R. Adams, is a Master Mariner, certified BRM instructor, retired U.S. Coast Guard officer, and member of the Florida bar. During his two decades in the Coast Guard, he served in the cutters Absecon, Boutwell, Dependable, Midgett, Steadfast, and Ute, progressing from deck watch officer to commanding officer. Thereafter, he spent 11 years as captain of the large oil spill response vessel Delaware Responder with brief intervals as captain of the California Responder, Maine Responder, and Virginia Responder. He has taught STCW courses, including BRM, at locations from Maine to Miami. For more information email info@noreasterpress.com Noble Therald Martin arrived in Macae, Brazil. Freight Finance Program Launched
MarAd, with the Export-Import Bank, developed a program to provide incentives for the commercial public to ship their U.S. export cargo on U.S.-flag vessels. The Ex-Im Bank provides guaranteed working capital loans for transportation-related cost associated with the export move that is carried on a U.S.-flag vessel. Such costs include ocean freight, marine insurance, export packing, trucking, railroad or other costs related to the logistics involved in the export of commercial cargo. These loans offer an incentive to use U.S.-flag vessels while concurrently improving cash flow for exporters, the freight forwarding industry and U.S.-flag carriers.
